SpySheriff is malware that disguises itself as an anti-spyware program. SpySheriff is also known as Brave Sentry, Pest Trap, SpyTrooper, and SpywareNo. The program attempts to trick the user of an infected computer into buying the program by repeatedly informing them of false threats to their system. SpySheriff was initially difficult to remove from an infected computer and is difficult to remove manually. Attempting to remove it using the “Add/Remove Programs” applet in control panel does not remove all components, and SpySheriff’s components may be in the System Restore folders. SpySheriff can be easily removed using anti-malware tools. SpySheriff reports false malware infections and uses poor heuristics to detect real malware infections. The desktop background may be replaced with an image resembling a blue screen of death, or a notice reading: “SPYWARE INFECTION! Your system is infected with spyware. Windows recommends that you use a spyware removal tool to prevent loss of data. Using this PC before having it cleaned of spyware threats is highly discouraged.”. Remove Windows Protection Master by Britec This rogue is designed specifically to trick users into thinking their computer is infected. Then the malware program tries to convince users into paying for the licensed version of this malware program after it promises them to fix all detected threats. The rogue initiates fake scans of your computer each time you turn it on. It then reports infections which are fake, the goal of the rogue is to make you think that what it tells you is true. Be wise and do not trust this malware. Purchasing this program is the total waste of your money. The program cannot assist you in detecting or removing real security threats and fixing real vulnerabilities. www.malwarebytes.org www.funkytoad.com Need help with your malware infected computer? www.briteccomputers.co.uk
#Op Anon RAT engaged. 14 days. #Project Mayhem 2012. We are anonymous, We are legion, We do not forgive, We do not forget, Expect us. attention citizens of the world, we are anonymous. for the next few moments we would like your full and desired attention, in hope that you heed the warning as follows. the medium of communication, information and entertainment you all call the internet is going to be destroyed. 6 months ago, coders from the collective entailed on an operation, an operation to create a sophisticated computer virus that is completely undetectable to all current marketed antivirus programs and software. that operation completed successfully, and we can now officially declare that anonymous is in possession of a next generation, fully stealth and intelligent virus, that has the capability to spread and replicate with immense speed and efficiency. the virus which is coded in delphi is basically an encrypted trojan that works along side a client and server. the initial exploit is embedded into media files such as j pegs and mp3. once the executable file is compiled, that media file can then be sent via email, messenger services, p2p and social networks such as twitter and facebook. once the victim interacts, watches or downloads the infected file, the compressed self extracter then finds the quickest way to the victims system, usually by exploiting firefox and chrome cookies to spread onto an active proccess or if the file is acsessed with windows explorer it …
Remove ZAccess Rootkit and Other Malware / Virus Infections From Computer by Britec ZeroAccess rootkit, also known as Max++, is a nasty piece of malware which is designed to start its persistent campaign just after infiltration. The infiltration of this malware is quite simple and done through security holes together with infected downloads, often Adobe Reader or Java fake updates. It can be said that additional purpose of ZeroAccess rootkit is to set up a stealthy, undetectable and un-removable platform which should help to download malware into the target PC. As you can see, it’s a rootkit which is advanced and sophisticated. ZeroAccess rootkit is quite similar to TDSS rootkit, and shares both functionality and even some portions of code. They both hide from anti-malware program scans, stop legitimate programs from working by killing their processes or stopping them from execution. In fact, it is quite hard to distinguish between these two trojans for the victim without a scan. Zero Access is one of the trojans responsible for hijacked Google results. The symptoms are search engine search results and various other pages redirecting to pages promoting various products, unrelated to searches. Additionally, 0Access might block legitimate anti-malware and antivirus vendor sites. Zero Access is used for multiple malicious purposes. The first purpose is stopping legitimate anti-virus programs from execution and thus limiting chances for removal. The second purpose is making …
The long awaited video of CIH trashing a standalone PC’s BIOS and rendering the computer unable to boot. This video comes fourteen years to the date after CIH first unleashed its devastating payload upon the world. When CIH infects files, it checks to see whether there are enough gaps to completely store its code, rather than simply writing its code to the end of the file and increasing file size. If it has enough space, CIH will infect the file without increasing file size. If it does not, CIH will ignore the file, giving it better ability to further infect a user’s computer without the user noticing anything. On April 26th (in the original variant), CIH activates, overwriting part of the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) and overwriting the first megabyte of all hard disks in an endless loop, causing the computer to crash. Once rebooted, the BIOS is corrupted and will no longer display anything on the screen or initiate the boot sequence, rendering the computer unusable. I realize RogueAmp does have a video of CIH doing this same thing, but now there is a video of it activating in HD and with narration, which I feel is invaluable to the whole experience. It’s humbling to watch a piece of software bring an entire computer to its knees. Shoutout to my friend Wes (somefellow12345) who left one of the most amusing YouTube comments I’ve ever read on my old CIH video (which was done using a virtual machine).

Skip to 0:33 to begin. An interesting look at computer viruses from the popular program The Computer Chronicles from 1989. Some viruses discussed include the Morris Worm, Jerusalem, and a few Macintosh viruses, like Scores. Also examined are a number of antivirus products from the time, and their effectiveness as well as their approaches towards stopping the growing virus menace. They also test a DOS virus on camera. It’s like looking at my channel 20 years ago. I figured some of you might enjoy looking back at the history of the antivirus industry, as well as thoughts and opinions from affected users when viruses were still a brand new threat.
