I’m running a setup of 2 PCs: A main desktop (Windows 7 x64), Kaspersky Internet Security 2010; and a wireless connected laptop. In this laptop I have installed Norton Internet Security 2010. My problem is the following: Both computers can create and join the homegroup of each other, but they can not see the shared libraries of each other. The homegroup page says that may not have been connect computers yet, but old style network sharing is still working. I managed to find out that the problem is due Norton’s firewall conflict with some kept turned on components of the windows firewall. To try to solve this, I already disabled windows firewall service, so thats only Norton’s firewall running. Disabling Norton’s firewall at this point does nothing. The only way I found to make homegroup back working is uninstalling Norton (which is not an option).
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have the mcafee security program. I’m running a spyware scan on my computer with it right now but it takes FOREVER. Will mcafee detect this "Personal antivirus" program as spyware and remove it from my computer? I heard this particular spyware program is highy sophisticated and some spyeware removal programs will not detect it as spyware. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it without spending any money?

Computer Security Day 2008

Online security training – in recognition of this year’s Computer Security Day.

This is a video Guide to the tutorial on PPCGeeks. If you don’t read the tutorial, this will not make sense. If you have questions, just join PPCGeeks and join the discussion in the thread. If I can’t help you, someone else might be able too. Don’t try getting help via the comments on youtube. This is how I rooted my EVO 4G from Sprint. Basically, this is toastcfh’s method from xda-developers. I wrote them w/ a little more detail for someone who’s totally new to Android to understand and posted them on PPCGeeks here – forum.ppcgeeks.com Here’s the thread that toastcfh made on xda – forum.xda-developers.com This method eliminates the need for using the PC and ADB shell or any batch files.

My computer worked fine for quite some time. All of a sudden it seems that dozens of pieces of Malware have shown up. I have all kinds of detectors, but they each find different things with nearly no overlap and they don’t find everything. One problem is that I have one or more pieces of Malware that keep me logged onto the Internet. This opens my computer to invasion. Things are constantly changing and sometimes I can barely get onto it, sometimes I can’t get on.

Where on my hard drive do I look to figure out which dialer(s) are operating on my computer?
I’ve run Lavasoft, Spybot, Earthlink, Microsoft and a few others.
I run Firefox but the malware automatically opens up Internet Explorer.
